Cyber Monday is anticipated to be the largest online shopping day of the year, with sales expected to exceed $14 billion. This follows a record-breaking Black Friday, which saw a 4% increase in online spending to $11.8 billion. 

Retailers such as Amazon, Target, and Abercrombie and Fitch are offering substantial discounts on a range of products. New technology, including Amazon's AI assistant Rufus, is helping consumers find deals and automate purchases. Shopping activity is expected to peak in the evening, with spending projected at $16 million per minute.

It follows a Black Friday that defied expectations. Sales jumped more than 4% as online spending hit a record $11.8 billion. The director of the White House National Economic Council said that this proves some economic concerns may have been misplaced. It was really a blockbuster weekend after Thanksgiving. And so I think that the folks who were saying, wow, maybe people are gonna be anxious about, you know, going back and getting presents for the kids and so on, they've been disproven this weekend.
