The NBA held its inaugural community health fair and grocery pop-up at the Bill and Lily Hendrick YMCA in Las Vegas, drawing up to 300 local residents. Attendees participated in health screenings, accessed food support, and engaged in activities with members of the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs.

The event featured 13 free health stations, a mobile mammogram bus, and opportunities for families to relax and enjoy music. NBA representatives stated their intention to use this event as a model for similar initiatives in other communities across the country.

Here at the Bill and Lily Hendrick YMCA up to 300 locals are getting the chance to not only bond with some of the best basketball players in the world in the distance, they're getting some shots up together, but they're also having the opportunity to better their health as well as their food security at the NBA's inaugural health fair and grocery pop-up. There are so many needs in our community that if we can bring them all together in one place and one event and have some fun. Lots of fun featuring the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs. Kids are playing hoops, families are listening to music. Hoops, music, 13 free health stations and a grocery pop-up. We've got lots of screenings, we've got a mobile mammogram bus. From screenings to spending time with the two teams, some locals tell me this year's NBA cup is making their day a little brighter. It means a lot, you know, this was wonderful just to meet everybody, you know, and do the health assessment, you know, they come and see some of the NBA players. Something different, you know, and like my son said, we're gonna scratch this off our bucket list. It definitely gives everyone a chance to go outside, you know, get some fresh air, probably relax a little bit, especially if things have been tense for some families, you know. It definitely gives people a chance to come out and really come together as a community. Now this is the NBA's first ever community health fair and league members tell me that they're hoping to use today's event as a launching pad to help other communities nationwide in the future.
