Two people are dead and at least 10 others injured after multiple explosions at the U.S. Steel Clairton plant in western Pennsylvania on Monday. CBS News' Meg Oliver reports.

Explosions at the U.S. Steel plant in Clairton, near Pittsburgh, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to at least 10 others. The blast caused significant damage, with debris and smoke visible for miles. One of the victims has been identified as Timothy Quinn, a 39-year-old father of three, while the second victim has not yet been named. The plant, which employs around 1,400 people and is involved in coal-to-coke conversion for steelmaking, experienced the explosions in the reversing room, an area critical to the operation of the facility. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident. Air quality tests found no contaminants above federal standards, and a stay-at-home order for nearby residents was lifted after the situation was assessed.

The thick smoke could be seen for miles. Our door blew open at the same time. And when I looked up and actually looked out the window to notice, I saw the black smoke inside charred rubble, twisted metal and remnants of concrete and brick littered the ground. Okay, we are now getting updates that there's possible entrapment under the rubble. 39 year old Timothy Quinn, a father of three, was killed in the blast. He was just one hell of a dude. I mean, I can't really explain it more than that. I mean, he was probably one of the best co workers I ever had. A second person also died, but it's not been identified. At least 10 others were hurt and taken to nearby hospitals. The cause of the explosions are still under investigation. The large industrial plant converts coal to coke, a key part of the steel making process and employs around 1400 people. Sources tell our CBS Pittsburgh station the blast happened in the reversing room, which regulates the massive ovens in the plant to make sure the coal bakes evenly. You've got to work every day to make a living for your family. You need to go home healthy, and it's just a sad day for Claredon. As far as the air quality, no contaminants were found above federal standards, and that initial stay at home order for residents who live nearby was lifted. Tony, thank you very much.
