A small aircraft crashed while taking off from Cobalt Airport in Walk Hill, New York, resulting in the death of the pilot, who was the only person on board. The plane caught fire following the crash, and state police have confirmed the fatality at the scene. 

Authorities have notified the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board is expected to investigate the cause of the crash. Local residents learned of the incident through news alerts, and officials are working to determine what led to the accident.
