The New York City mayoral race has entered a new phase following the exit of Mayor Eric Adams, leaving three candidates actively campaigning. Zoran Mamdani, considered the frontrunner, held a press conference targeting Andrew Cuomo over billionaire support, while Cuomo accused Mamdani of hypocrisy regarding campaign donations and questioned his stance on public safety and policing.

Curtis Sliwa has also increased his campaign efforts, criticizing Cuomo for not engaging directly with voters and announcing plans to intensify his get-out-the-vote campaign. As Election Day approaches, the candidates are focusing on distinguishing themselves and appealing to Adams' former supporters and donors.

And Fox News, Morgan McKay is live in lower Manhattan, where Andrew Cuomo was just a short time ago. Morgan, what's the latest? Hey, Bianca, Natasha. As you guys said, the three candidates who are left all out campaigning today. The frontrunner Zoran Mamdani holding a press conference earlier in midtown on what's known as Billionaire's Row, focusing his attacks on Andrew Cuomo. Now that Mayor Eric Adams is out of the race, Mamdani says he's fighting to win over Adams voters, while Cuomo is working to gain Adams donors. Mamdani pointed to billionaires supporting Cuomo's campaign who have also supported President Trump. Cuomo, in response, called Mamdani a hypocrite, pointing to donations made to a Mamdani super PAC by billionaire Elizabeth Simons and others. Mamdani says the difference is, unlike Cuomo, he doesn't coordinate illegally with his super PAC, and the average donation amount to his actual campaign has been $25. I will not accept money from real estate developers looking to influence the outcomes of this race, and I have stuck to that. He is being funded by Trump-supporting billionaires, by the very people that have funded Donald Trump's return to the White House. I cannot think of a single Trump-supporting billionaire that is looking to even entertain the prospect of supporting my campaign. Now, Cuomo focused his message today on public safety, an issue that his campaign sees as a weakness for Mamdani. Cuomo accused Mamdani of either lying to New Yorkers about where he stands on police, or says he's lying to his base of Democratic Socialists, pointing to, again, Mamdani's comments about the NYPD in 2020. Mamdani has said that his platform is his own, and there are differences on where he stands compared to the National Democratic Socialists of America organization, but Cuomo doubling down. Either he's telling the truth to the DSA, or he's telling the truth to New Yorkers. Either he believes what he says the DSA charter says, or he believes what he's saying today in his campaign rhetoric. It's one or the other, but he's lying to someone. Now, Curtis Leewell also out-campaigning today, and he's been ramping up his criticism as well on Cuomo, saying that he's never actually out among voters, and says that he's gonna be ramping up his get-out-the-vote campaign starting on October 1st, which is tomorrow.
