Wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph in coastal regions, and rainfall totals may exceed two inches in some locations. Residents are advised to be prepared for possible power outages and significant coastal flooding, particularly in areas like Lindenhurst.

Here on News 12 time now for another check of the hyper local forecast with storm watch team meteorologist Alex Calamea and so Sunday evening is the start of some of the worst of the weather we really don't have any problems out there today. Just some stray showers. What do you need to know? We have gusty wind and heavy rain from this nor'easter. This is like all nor'easters, a bigger issue along the coast, and the worst weather will be overnight while we're sleeping on Sunday into early Monday morning. Live look at the radar right now. Not associated with this storm, just some stray little spritzes coming into Nassau County. Huntington getting in on that green lawn. Just some quick little showers for you for the next two hours. Don't even really need the umbrella for it. The wind isn't too bad today, but you're starting to see that shift to the east direction. This is priming the atmosphere for what is coming tomorrow. I'm specifically mentioning Lindenhurst because major flooding is possible starting high tide time tomorrow, but especially that Monday high tide cycles could be what we're really watching. Sustained winds coming in at 20 mph in your Sunday afternoon, and the gusts will be much higher than that. Let's talk about it. You see the heavy rain starting to push in and then those reds and yellows. That moves in for your overnight hours on Sunday when you don't have a lot of rain all the way through your Sunday morning. Today and tomorrow combined, most of the rain is just spritzes. That's up to noontime on Sunday. It's getting breezy on Sunday, but the rain really isn't anything super unmanageable until Sunday evening after dinnertime. That's when the rain will come in. The wind hits first. You'll definitely notice the wind tomorrow morning and especially in the afternoon. This is how much rain we could get. One to two inches, maybe more than that in spots. Let's talk the wind Sunday afternoon. It is gusting up to 30 and maybe even 40 mph toward Montauk then overnight. This is midnight. We have some gusts approaching the 50 mph range while we're sleeping and early Monday morning. That will be the worst. Of the wind with gusts up to 50 mph for our coastal spots, 40 mph for the rest of us, so some power outages are possible but that coastal flood risk will be.
