Boluate was summoned to defend herself before Congress but refused to appear. She's facing several allegations of corruption. Mariana Boluate spoke a short time ago. What did she have to say? Well the last about an hour and a half has been the new face of another political, of the ongoing political crisis in Peru with yet another president impeached and a new president sworn in. It was about 11.30 at night on Thursday when lawmakers decided to unseat president Dina Boluate after she was summoned to come to Congress and to give a defend herself with herself or her lawyer and instead they decided to go ahead and she didn't come and they decided to go ahead and vote. They voted unanimously to impeach her and after a while she appeared at the presidential palace dressed in white, flanked by her ministers, very relaxed and started to speak about the many things that she had done during her government for infrastructure, for health, for education but as this was happening then all the cameras turned back to Congress and sworn in a new president who is 38 years old, a lawyer who has been under investigations since January for rape. Ana. Mariana, certainly some controversial news coming out then and some very fast changes happening with the Peruvian government. What then has been the public reaction? Well there has been some reaction, it's kind of late now but there were some people outside of Congress, demonstrators who have been demonstrating since the very beginning of Dina Boluate's government and also many people went to the Ecuadorian embassy because they were saying that they don't want her to take a political asylum anywhere, they want her to be tried and imprisoned for the corruption allegations that she's under investigation and for the killings of 49 Peruvians, protesters who were killed by security forces when she took office.
