A house fire on Fairview Avenue in Prospect Park led to the deaths of several animals, though no human fatalities were reported. The incident displaced two people, who are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. 

Firefighters from several neighboring towns collaborated to bring the blaze under control. The fire originated on the second floor at the back of the structure, and the cause is still being investigated. The affected stretch of Fairview Avenue remains closed while authorities continue their work.

But first, breaking news on a Friday afternoon. I'm Nick Madonis. Crews working for hours on a house fire in Prospect Park. It's on Fairview Avenue. News 12 New Jersey's Jill Croce is live there this afternoon. Jill, what are you seeing? Yeah, Nick, there's a lot going on actually. Still an active scene here in Prospect Park, but crews are starting to wrap things up. In fact, just moments ago, saw some crews putting some gear away. So a good sign there, and the fire has actually been out for quite some time. I'm at Fairview Avenue between North 16th Street and North 17th Street, and that stretch of road is closed at this time. I do want to report some good news, though, for you guys at home. No humans died from the structure fire that broke out today just before 9 a.m., but a few animals did die. The Prospect Park Fire Chief tells us that the back of the structure on the second floor is where the fire originated from. The house is rather tucked in from the street, but broken windows can be spotted. The chief also says two people have been displaced as a result, and the American Red Cross is on scene as we speak. Now, this was really a big collective effort today. You had Wayne, you had Todawa, you had Haldan Patterson, Wes Patterson, and Midland Park all helping Prospect Park today, so a huge collective effort, and the fire does remain under investigation at this time.
