The suspect demanded the girl's chain, and when she attempted to flee, he grabbed and struck her before taking the chain, which is valued at over $1,000. Switching gears now, we've reported on several chain snatchings in our borough. The latest victim of this crime is a 10-year-old girl. News 12's Jodi Juliana-Powell is in West Farms with the latest details on who police are searching for. Yeah, well just to give you some perspective on it, there's two schools right behind me, just across the street from where police say that chain snatching happened. It was around 7 40 this past Thursday and at that time kids are usually headed on their way to school. But at that time the 10-year-old little girl was being robbed of her chain and assaulted. Police say she was walking in front of 714 East 176th Street when this man demanded her chain. She tried to run off but he grabbed her, smacked the girl and then snatched her chain right off her neck. Running away with her chain valued at over $1,000. Here's what one neighbor had to say. Now you got a young girl who's going to be afraid to walk to school. So when she goes to school, thinks about school now, all she's going to think about is being robbed.
