Federal agents reportedly detained multiple people outside of a homeless shelter in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood on Wednesday morning.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained four individuals outside a homeless shelter in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood. Shelter officials reported that five people were initially detained, with one later released. The incident occurred at a shelter run by Brightstar Community Development Corporation, which houses 260 residents at an undisclosed location for safety reasons. 

Witnesses described the arrival of several unmarked vehicles and agents who did not present warrants or communicate with shelter staff before detaining residents. Shelter leaders expressed concern over the invasive nature of the operation. ICE has not yet provided details regarding the purpose of the action or whether specific individuals were targeted.

Don and Scott, officials say five people were detained this morning. One of them was later released. It all happened around 9 a.m. and the pastor who is affiliated with this shelter captured some of it on cell phone video. The shelter is located in Bronzeville but at an undisclosed location for the safety of the 260 men and women who live here. It is run by Brightstar Community Development Corporation. Officials here say they don't know why ICE agents targeted their location but share that they are working to find the residents who were taken. Executive Director of the Community Development Corporation Carl West and Executive Director of Brightstar Community Outreach Lucretia Kindred share what they saw. About 9 15 this morning about seven unmarked cars, SUVs, minivans showed up in front of the shelter. They jumped out, exited and there were about 20 residents maybe outside here and they immediately gave chase. They did not present warrants or ask you know could they speak to any residents. They just showed up. It's very invasive, intrusive, all the things, anything that you think it's worse than that right. We hear a lot about this and we we see it on the news but when you actually see it in your backyard and experience it, it's a completely different impact. We've reached out to ICE to find out more details about this operation including if they were targeting anyone in particular but have not yet heard back.
