Today his legal team held a news conference demanding his release. Fox 4's Stephen Dial is live with more. Stephen. Marwan Marouf originally entered the United States legally back in the 90s and his legal team told us that he was in the process of trying to get his green card when he was detained after dropping his son off from school last week. We're worried every day not knowing what will happen to him or to us. It is unfair and painful and we're just trying to hold on to each other while facing this heavy uncertainty. A week after Marwan Marouf was detained by ICE agents his family and legal team spoke to the media. Marwan has every right to contest his deportation and we know that Marwan has been targeted in this case. We know that the day that his application for green card was denied that he was arrested. That means that he did not have a meaningful opportunity under the constitution to contest his deportation to detest his arrest. Marouf legally entered the U.S. as a student back in 1991 and was later sponsored on a work visa. Last Monday his application for a green card was denied and was detained. Marouf a leader with the Muslim American Society of Dallas and founder of North Texas's largest Boy Scout troop has been held at the Blue Bonnet Detention Center in Anson for the last week. We demand that the evidence be be thoroughly reviewed considering that his legal team has a chance to make a case for his release so that he can fight properly for his right to be here as an as a resident. We reached out to ICE last week and Tuesday for details about his arrest. A bond hearing has been set for October 6th. Marouf's family says he has a pacemaker and they are concerned about his health. Proper monitoring and timely medical care are critical for someone with these conditions and we are gravely concerned that the stress and uncertainty of detention could trigger another cardiac event. Again we are reaching out to ICE to see their side of the story get their explanation as to the detainment again that bond hearing next week. Stephen thank you.
