A new poll is out on the New York City mayoral race. FOX 5 NY's Robert Moses has the details on how Andrew Cuomo is losing ground to Zohran Mamdani.

A recent Marist poll of likely voters in the New York City mayoral race indicates that Zoran Mamdani has taken a significant lead over former governor Andrew Cuomo. In a four-person contest, Mamdani holds 45% support, while Cuomo has 24%, Republican Curtis Sliwa has 17%, and incumbent Mayor Eric Adams has 9%, with 5% undecided. When the race is narrowed to just Mamdani and Cuomo, Mamdani maintains a comfortable margin, leading 49% to 39%.

The poll was conducted after former President Donald Trump encouraged Cuomo to challenge Mamdani directly, but before Governor Kathy Hochul publicly endorsed Mamdani. Hochul's endorsement was described as tepid, and both Sliwa and Cuomo criticized her decision. Mayor Adams, who remains in the race, acknowledged Hochul's courtesy in informing him of her endorsement. Mamdani continues to campaign actively, including joining striking workers in the Bronx.

All right, in the race for mayor, Andrew Cuomo is losing ground. That's right. A new poll showing frontrunner Zoran Mamdani pulling ahead in a head-to-head matchup against the former governor. Good day. Robert Moses is here now with the latest. Robert, what's happened with this new poll? Yeah, Dan and Tishani, really it shows us a couple things, this new Marist poll of likely voters out overnight. First of all, it shows how the contours of a four-person race remain very similar to what we've seen in recent weeks. But notably, when we look at a two-person race, this survey shows that former governor Andrew Cuomo is losing ground. The poll shows 45% of likely voters support Zoran Mamdani, 24% go for Cuomo, 17% back the Republican Curtis Sliwa, 9% Mayor Eric Adams, 5% undecided. So that's the four-person race. But if we cut this down to just two people, eliminate Sliwa and Adams for argument's sake, and look at just a two-man race, Mamdani still enjoys a comfortable lead over Cuomo, 49% to 39%, well outside the margin of error. This poll was conducted after President Donald Trump expressed his desire for Cuomo to take on Mamdani one-on-one, and before Governor Kathy Hochul endorsed Mamdani in this New York Times opinion piece. Asked yesterday about her endorsement, she didn't sound very enthusiastic. I do not agree with many of his views, I disagree with many statements, and I've said that. But also, I believe that we need someone who's going to be open-minded and optimistic and have an attitude, a can-do attitude that I share about knowing that the city's best days still do lie ahead. Mamdani walked the picket line in the Bronx with striking workers from Perigo, which is a pharmaceutical company. He talked about the governor's endorsement. I'm excited to welcome Governor Hochul to our movement, and to show the partnership at hand between City Hall and Albany in fighting to make the most expensive city in the United States of America affordable, and in fighting back against an authoritarian administration. Unfortunately, Mamdani's two closest competitors, Sliwa and Cuomo, also addressed the governor's endorsement. Predictably, they didn't have great things to say about it. I'm surprised she's adopted these extreme positions, but everybody makes their own political decisions. My beret is much better than Kathy Hochul's here. It looks like the female version of Che Guevara. I've been to Cuba, and socialism and communism does not work. As for Mayor Adams, he says that Hochul called him before she went public with her endorsement in the Times. He says that she has always been respectful of him. If the mayor is planning to drop out, as rumors have had it in the last couple weeks, he's not telegraphing it, at least not today. He is scheduled to campaign later on in Rochdale Village, Queens, beginning late this afternoon. Tishani and Dan, back to you. All right, Robert, thank you very much.
