The move follows reports of masked agents and armored vehicles in the city. Oregon leaders, including the governor, have strongly opposed the deployment, arguing that federal troops are not needed and warning that such actions could be unlawful. 

With Portland’s proximity to Seattle, Washington state leaders are closely watching the situation. Senator Patty Murray has called for national opposition to military involvement in the Pacific Northwest, while Governor Ferguson’s office stated they are concerned and have been preparing for the possibility of similar actions in Washington, despite receiving no indication of imminent troop mobilization.

With Portland less than 200 miles from Seattle, the question is, what could we be next? So here's how our local leaders have responded. Senator Patty Murray called on leaders across the country to fight back, saying, quote, the president needs to keep the military out of the Pacific Northwest. This after Trump mentioned moving FIFA World Cup games away from cities he says are dangerous. Governor Ferguson's office weighed in, saying the governor is deeply concerned about developments in Portland and is monitoring the situation closely. While we have not received any information indicating there will be mobilization in Washington, the governor's team has been preparing for the possibility for some time.
