Tonight, CBS's Haley Ott at our London bureau reports on the newly released video showing six Israeli hostages just months before their deaths in Gaza. The Jewish holiday Hanukkah begins Sunday evening. This week, families of some of the Israeli hostages killed after the October 7 Hamas attack shared video of their loved ones observing the holiday during their time in captivity. Those in the footage are dead, killed in August 2024, but filmed for Hamas propaganda earlier, the hostage family said, who shared the footage this week, as they push for the return of the remains of the final Israeli hostage still in Gaza, where suffering has not stopped. Homeless, apart from makeshift tents, thousands of Palestinians faced freezing wet weather. In the last two days, at least 16 people died from exposure, Gaza's civil defense agency said, and tents have been flooded in a winter storm. But hardship hasn't snuffed out humanity. And despite all the obstacles, some in Gaza found joy in their national soccer team. Football has become a source of relief, Huda Mahmoud Shaban Abujazar said. She's the proud mother of the captain of the Palestinian team. Our only joy now is Palestinian football, she said. Gathered with dozens of others, Huda watched her son's game on TV, the screen and the team on it lighting up the darkness. It's been about two months since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire came into effect in Gaza, though the violence has not ended entirely. And as far as what happens next there, many of President Trump's plans set out in that ceasefire deal have yet to materialize.

The person of interest authorities took into custody in connection with the shooting at Brown University has been identified as Benjamin Erickson. He's a 24 year old, originally from Wisconsin.
