Students have since returned to classes at the university, with many reflecting on the impact of the shooting. A memorial for Kirk is planned at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, with security preparations underway.

I couldn't fathom what actually came out of his mouth. I know who Charlie Kirk's shooter is. Nate Brooksby is sheriff of Washington County in Utah, about four hours south of where the attack occurred. Suspect Tyler Robinson's family arranged for him to surrender and negotiated with the sheriff. He was fearful of a SWAT team hit on his house or he was fearful of being shot by law enforcement. He's accused of a horrific crime, but then we are treating him very civilly, very humanely. He was sitting on a very comfortable couch with a water bottle in his hand, cooperative, somber, quiet. Today, students returned to Utah Valley University for the first time since the shooting exactly one week ago. In the courtyard where Kirk was killed, many like freshman Samuel Baxter stood in silence and reflected. I made it through my high school, no shootings, just fine. And then, I don't know, it's just, what does it all come to, right? A man died for giving his opinion. Moments before that shot rang out, Charlie Kirk tossed hats into the crowd. First-year student Ben Dubrovik caught one. Now that you've had time for it to sink in a little bit, what's going through your mind? Charlie was a father, and I'm about to be one. I can't imagine the two kids there not being able to have a father. I was shaking in the car on the way here, not fear of going to school, but fear of reliving the memory that will forever be ingrained into my brain. The suspect remains here in jail without bail. His next court hearing is September 29th. Now, a memorial for Charlie Kirk will be held on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and CBS News has learned that Secret Service is already on the ground securing the area.
