Travelers in the Great Lakes, Northern Plains, and Northeast regions of the United States are experiencing weather-related disruptions due to ongoing lake effect snow and an approaching storm system. While airport congestion may be lighter, cities such as Buffalo, Cleveland, Syracuse, and Chicago are seeing occasional travel backups, and Seattle is also affected by the new weather system.

Road conditions have improved compared to previous days, but hazardous travel persists in parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, with subfreezing road temperatures and the risk of ice, especially on bridges and overpasses. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, use headlights and hazard lights, and remain cautious as strong winds are expected to continue throughout the day and evening.

I can tell you, if you happen to be traveling today, may not be that bad for some of you because you don't have less volume in the airports. But I will tell you, if you're in the Great Lakes, maybe in the Northern Plains, and certainly moving into the Northeast, you eventually may see some backups. It makes sense for Buffalo, Cleveland, Syracuse, Chicago, to experience some backups from time to time. In Seattle, well, that's because another system is moving on in, and when it does, we could see more problems eventually into the Northern Plains that will also follow suit moving into portions of the, I'd say, the Great Lakes. Roadways, they're better than they were yesterday. I'll give you that much. But yesterday, south of Fargo, roads were impassable. They're still quite rough across portions of, let's see, Minnesota and certainly into Wisconsin at this hour. Be careful out there. Let the plows do their work. Road temperatures in many of these spots well below the freezing point. Remember, bridges and overpasses, especially susceptible to icing, so be careful. And remember, it only takes a very thin veneer to cause a lot of your problems within roadways, but even high-profile vehicles may get buffeted around by some of the strong winds that we expect. Number one thing I can tell you out of all the advice is to keep it slow on the roadways and also visibility, not just for you, but for other drivers. It's incredibly important. Make sure you turn on the headlights, maybe even the hazard lights. It all helps, no doubt. Meanwhile, the wind is gonna remain quite strong through much of the day and into the afternoon and evening.
