Hong Kong firefighters found dozens more bodies Friday during an intensive apartment-by-apartment search of a high-rise tower complex, after a massive fire engulfed seven of its eight buildings. The death toll in one of the city's deadliest blazes is now at least 128.

Firefighters in Hong Kong have contained a major blaze at the Eight Tower Estate in Tai Po District, with the death toll rising to nearly 130. The fire, which broke out while the complex was undergoing renovations, quickly spread across all seven blocks of the estate.

Emergency crews encountered numerous obstacles, including rapidly spreading flames, falling debris, and blocked access routes. Officials confirmed that this incident is the deadliest fire in Hong Kong's history, and efforts continued to ensure there were no additional casualties.

The Eight Tower Estate in the northern district of Taipo had been undergoing renovations when it was gutted by a fire on Wednesday afternoon. It is the deadliest in the city's history.
