According to organised crime analysts, it's an oversimplification to say Maduro heads the group. They state the group is more accurately described as a system of corruption wherein military and political officials profit by working with drug traffickers. Venezuela's Vice President has slammed the US designation, which was announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Today Marco Rubio came up with notorious hush that it's the Cartel of the Sons, now it's a terrorist organisation. Ridiculous, they're ridiculous. President Nicolas Maduro has always denied involvement in crime and alleges the US is seeking regime change out of a desire to control Venezuela's natural resources. He's facing mounting pressure from the US President's military build-up in the Caribbean and Pacific, in which the US has killed dozens in strikes on alleged drug boats, strikes which experts say may be illegal.
