From Texas all the way into the Northeast, dangerous heat is taking hold from July 23-25.

A significant heat wave is forecast to affect more than 100 million people across the United States, with temperatures expected to exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit in many regions. Cities such as Dallas, Houston, and Little Rock are expected to experience 'real feel' temperatures as high as 115 degrees, prompting warnings about the risks of heat-related illnesses and the need for precautions, especially for vulnerable groups and pets.

The heat is expected to intensify and expand northward, impacting areas from the Midwest to the East Coast, including parts of Pennsylvania, the Mid Atlantic, and the Northeast. Some relief is anticipated for New York and New England due to a dip in the jet stream, but much of the South and Mid Atlantic will continue to experience dangerous heat. The forecast also includes the potential for severe weather and flooding in some areas as the heat wave persists.

Temperatures to exceed 100 degrees for more than 100 million Americans

We're pointing out Houston, Dallas, some of these cities because yet actually haven't hit triple digits yet this year. And usually by this point you have some of you by July 1st like Dallas, others by July 19th like Houston. But again, either way, hot is hot and it is definitely hot right now at this time of the year. I'm not even really paying attention to those air temperatures. It's the acuweather real field temperatures that I care about personally because that's what it actually feels like outside and somewhere like Dallas tomorrow. We're in the feels like one of five to 110 range a little bit farther to the East somewhere like Little Rock 110 to 115. That's your acuweather real field temperature. Dangerous heat, right? You want to be taking those precautions against heat related illness and a quick reminder some of the impacts here. Heat stroke, heat exhaustion. You need to be looking for those symptoms, but of course there's other impacts to in the pets. Keep in mind the pets. Make sure you're taking him on walks first thing in the morning before it's too hot because their paws are very sensitive in the sidewalk can get very hot. Very quickly now we look ahead to Friday. Sweltering that is a word I don't want to see on the map, especially this time of year. This just does not look good. Unfortunately it's just not great. It's more of the dangerous heat. We're stuck with this for not just a day or two, but really at least into next week. Again, somewhere like Little Rock in the feels like 110 to 115 range, but even if you're in the 95 to 100 range, that is still the kind of heat that you need to be paying attention to. You need to be limiting your time outside, especially anyone that's in sensitive groups. We look ahead to the weekend. Some good news. We gotta take the small winds right? 110 to 115. That darkest red shade shaded area. It's a little bit of a smaller area, not as many of us, but Little Rock. I mean, you're just stuck in that range for a couple of days here, so I hope you can get in the air conditioning as much as possible. Let's take you to Washington DC now because you might have noticed on this last map I showed you the heat it is spreading its way North but right now. 85 degrees sounds good to me. That's right. Today was the last nice quote unquote day here across the Mid Atlantic and the Northeast because the heat it is moving and we're going to be tracking a heat dome that is going to intensify and expand and this expansion is going to pull up much hotter air and much more humidity across this region. So not only the air temperature is going to climb the actual weather real field temperatures will climb as well. We will see some areas here across parts of Pennsylvania in the Mid Atlantic coastal areas climbing and we're seeing accurate the real field temperatures climbing up to about 100. Degrees, but look what happens as we head into Friday. The heat is actually going to expand here across this region, covering more space, but also very much intensifying here across the East Coast. You can see from Baltimore to Washington down through Richmond and Virginia Beach. That's where we're going to see those accurate the real field temperatures well in that 105 to 110 range as we head into Friday and then as we head into Saturday we're still going to be tracking that dangerous heat across the East Coast but some of the heat to the north will slowly recede and retreat here as we head throughout Saturday Friday we're tracking another risk of shower storms and severe weather. Now once again, this is Friday's forecast, not tomorrow, so Thursday there could be some rain chances around but overall looks like it's going to stay clear. Friday is going is going to be when we see that next chance potential of severe weather but in addition to the severe weather heading into the weekend, Saturday, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, widespread showers and storms here across parts from the Midwest all the way to the Mid Atlantic and this is where we could see that flooding potential in the forecast. But then as we head into the weekend, there will be some relief for some for some areas here, New York and parts of New England. We're going to see a significant cool down because of a dip in the jet stream, but that dip that front is not going to make it all the way to the South. So if you're across the Mid Atlantic Coast across the Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley, yeah, it's still going to be plenty hot here as we head throughout the weekend. So that's the overall setup of what we're tracking on Thursday. Hot and humid conditions will continue to dominate the forecast is that heat starts to move in and you can see that stripe of heat working its way from Saint Louis to Detroit. Look at that 100 for Saint Louis, 96 degrees in Detroit, so it's going to be a hot forecast on Thursday, Friday. You can see that storm or that that cold front to the north. That's what's going to kick off that chance of showers and storms across the region, but it's still going to be sweltering off to the South.
