Bondi stated that nothing in the files warranted further investigation or prosecution, and the White House dismissed media reports on the matter as false. 

The revelation coincided with congressional actions, including subpoenas for Ghislaine Maxwell and Justice Department records on Epstein. Meanwhile, a federal judge in Florida declined to unseal grand jury testimony from Epstein's first federal case, while a decision on releasing testimony from a second case in New York is still pending.

Last week, President Trump was asked if he'd been told by Attorney General Pam Bondi that his name appears in documents related to the case against sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Specifically, did she tell you at all that your name appeared in the buttons? No, no. She's given us just a very quick briefing and in terms of the credibility of the different things that they've seen. But as first reported by the Wall Street Journal, Bondi told the president in May his name appears multiple times in the documents, which doesn't suggest he did anything wrong and given their past friendship, isn't surprising. The White House dismissed the reports, calling them fake news. And Bondi issued a statement saying nothing in the files warranted further investigation or prosecution. But the revelation came on the same day the Republican-led House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell to testify from prison, where she's serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, among other charges. And a House panel voted to subpoena the Justice Department for all Epstein records. At the White House, the president has urged fellow Republicans to help change the subject. Russia's meddling has long been investigated, including by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, which was co-chaired by now Secretary of State Marco Rubio, unanimously finding Russia did engage in an aggressive effort to influence the 2016 election. Now, as for the Epstein controversy, on Wednesday, a federal judge in South Florida rejected the DOJ's request to unseal grand jury testimony from the first federal case that made Epstein a registered sex offender. But there's no ruling yet on a separate attempt to release testimony from the second federal Epstein case in New York.
