Aid agencies highlight that thousands of tents are located in low-lying, flood-prone areas, leaving residents in increasingly dire circumstances. Efforts by organizations such as the UNDP include creating shelters in safer areas and reinforcing tent foundations, but ongoing storms continue to threaten the safety and well-being of those displaced by conflict.

Heavy rain and strong winds have brought more devastation to the Gaza Strip. Streets are submerged and tents drenched. Families say they are struggling to stay dry. I try to dry the children's clothes over the fire. There are no spare clothes for them. I am exhausted. The tent we were given can't withstand winter conditions. We need blankets. When the downpour stopped for a while, displaced Palestinians began repairing their shelters. When the storm hit, the tent collapsed on us. We fled to our neighbor's tent and tried to hold it down so the wind wouldn't take it away. As you can see, we've been working since the morning to fix the damage. It was flooded. The entire camp was flooded. The wind was so strong that it ripped some tents while others were blowing away. Flooded streets have turned neighborhoods into muddy waterways. Damaged homes, already weakened by months of Israeli bombardment, are now on the verge of collapse. And with each rainstorm, the same miseries repeat. And for thousands of families here, there is still no safe shelter or lasting solution. Aid agencies say the situation is dire because thousands of tents are in low-lying areas. The shelters are getting flooded and that it's leaving people in miserable conditions. UNDP is both helping to create shelters and areas that are not vulnerable to flooding. But secondly, we're also doing, through debris removal, putting foundations of different rocks and different solid foundations so it lifts the tent areas and also keeps people out of the flooding area. With each storm hitting harder than the last, displaced families face a harsh reality, where surviving the weather has become as urgent as surviving the war.
