Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid in 2024, claimed PSG owed him 55 million euros and sought additional damages, while PSG countersued for 440 million euros citing a rejected transfer offer.

The dispute centered on unpaid compensation and alleged mistreatment during Mbappé's final season at PSG. The court's decision follows a period of deteriorating relations between the player and the club, with both sides disputing the existence of a verbal agreement regarding the payment.

The France captain claimed PSG owes him 55 million euros, a sum made up of three months of unpaid wages and the final third of his signing-on fee for a two-year contract extension in 2022. Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid in 2024 on a free transfer, also sued the Ligue 1 giants over how the club treated him during his last season in Paris. Despite the multiple convictions PSG has already faced for psychological harassment, it is clear that it keeps the same attitude, denying the reality of employees' rights. PSG countersued the 26-year-old for 440 million euros. The club claimed this would be fair compensation for an offer worth a record 300 million euros made by Saudi Arabian club Al-Lal, which Mbappé rejected. Relations began to deteriorate at the start of the 2023-24 campaign. That's when Mbappé refused to trigger an optional extra season in his contract. He found himself isolated from the first team during the transfer window. PSG says that Mbappé agreed to forgo a sum of money at the end of his contract in a verbal agreement, which then allowed for him to return to the squad. PSG regrets that it's come to this for a player it valued. The club always believed that Mbappé would respect their agreement, but unfortunately that was not the case. Mbappé's legal team said there was no tangible proof of that agreement.
