While initial scenarios suggested a possible landfall, this outcome is becoming less likely as models now indicate the storm is more likely to move slowly and be pulled eastward, influenced by Hurricane Umberto. 

Current model consensus points to Imelda being steered away from land, with warm waters and reduced wind shear potentially affecting its strength. The situation remains dynamic, with forecasters closely watching for any changes in the storm's environment and trajectory.

Several factors influencing future Imelda’s track

These tropical entities are steered by a lot of different things, so you've got the upper level flow that's going to start to steer this to the North. Now it's not in the most ideal conditions right now to see strengthening, unlike the pristine environment that Hurricane Umberto is sitting in, but we've got some very warm water ahead. We are eventually going to see the shear that gets limited a little bit, and as this gets pulled to the North, there's two scenarios here at play. Now this first one is becoming less and less likely. Where we would see a landfall, and this is steered by the cutoff flow that eventually brings it inland. But what is becoming the more likely scenario and what the models are really starting to hone in on and agree upon is that we will see this. Move slower. We're already seeing that slow motion on this and get tugged to the East by Hurricane Umberto and you can see all of the models zoning in on that solution.
