Officer Wilder's fiancé, Tiffany, is seeking help from the community through a meal train and a GoFundMe campaign, as Wilder is unable to work his side jobs during recovery. Friends and colleagues have organized support to provide meals and financial assistance to the family, who are focused on his physical and emotional healing.

A San Diego police officer hit by a drunk driver going down a one-way street in the wrong direction. It happened in Pacific Beach last weekend. While the officer survived, the crash has left him and his spouse in a difficult situation. ABC 10 News reporter Danny Miskell spoke with the officer's fiancé, who's now reaching out to the community for help. I honestly was happy to see that he was alive. He looked scared and didn't know what was going on. That was the moment when Tiffany got to see her fiancé, Officer Michael Wilder, for the first time at the hospital after he was hit by a drunk driver last Saturday. He was just crossing the street like a normal pedestrian, going back to his patrol car. Officer Wilder was working in Pacific Beach and parked right near this intersection at Mission Boulevard and Thomas Avenue. It's a one-way. San Diego police say 31-year-old Anthony Robertson was driving drunk and the wrong way down Thomas Avenue when he hit Wilder. All he suffered was from a concussion, but there are still injuries that he sustained that we are awaiting medical guidance. California Highway Patrol says that in 2024 alone, they responded to more than 1,300 DUI crashes in San Diego County. SANDAGS Traffic Safety Dashboard's most recent data shows that from 2006 to 2022, there were 188 deaths because of drivers going down the wrong side of the road. It's why Tiffany wants to remind people to stop and think before getting behind the wheel. Before you drink and drive, just really think about the life that you could take or even your own life. Tiffany and Officer Wilder have been together for more than seven years, and they have two little boys together. Tiffany is a stay-at-home mom, but with Wilder now focusing on making a recovery, she's juggling a lot to support her family. I'm trying to be his biggest supporter and trying to help him. Friends from within the San Diego Police Department set up a meal train for the family. All the money raised will go towards helping out the family with home-cooked meals, groceries and more. Tiffany also set up a GoFundMe to help supplement the side jobs Officer Wilder won't be able to work for a while. With the accident, there obviously came both physical and emotional challenges, but at this time we were just focused on how to help him heal as well as recover from that.
