As temperatures hover around zero degrees Celsius, the attack has caused widespread power cuts throughout the country. People in Odessa have been battling these outages for weeks now. In 2022, it felt like one day without electricity was a disaster, but now we know that seven days without electricity has become the norm for Odessa. Russian strikes damaged more than 120 buildings, as well as energy and port infrastructure. Last week, Russia brushed off the German Chancellor's call for a holiday truce, and the latest round of US-led talks in Miami saw no immediate breakthrough in ending the war. Many across Ukraine expect to spend Christmas in the dark.

The FDA has approved the pill version of the weight loss drug Wegovy, the first oral medication of its kind. The new pills are expected to be available in a few weeks.
