Russian forces carried out a major overnight aerial assault across Ukraine, resulting in at least three deaths, including a four-year-old child, and multiple injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that over 600 drones and more than 30 missiles were used, with strikes hitting at least 13 regions and causing significant damage to residential buildings and critical infrastructure.

Ukraine's Air Force described the attack as the largest use of attack drones by Russia since the conflict began nearly four years ago. The strikes occurred shortly after U.S.-led peace talks, and Zelensky stated that draft documents on security guarantees and ending the war have been prepared following recent discussions with U.S. officials.

The latest bombardment comes just days after the latest round of U.S.-led talks aimed at bringing the conflict to an end. For more on this, let's bring in CBS News Foreign Correspondent, Rami Inocencio from our London newsroom. Rami, what more do we know about these attacks? Lindsay, yes, well, more chaos, more casualties, and now timed with Christmas week here, more than 600 drones and more than 30 missiles is what we're talking about, what Volodymyr Zelensky said in a social media post. And last night's attack is being framed by Ukraine's Air Force as the biggest use of attack drones by Russia's army in the past nearly four years of war. Now, one short clip from social shows right there the moment of impact for one drone and then that massive fireball. This was in the Kiev region in the area surrounding the capital. One national broadcaster reported at least four people were hurt here and that a five-story building was hit. And then just west of Kiev in Zhytomyr region, this is where that four-year-old was killed that you mentioned. Zelensky said that a drone hit a residential building there. That also wounded four others, including another child. In total, at least 13 of Ukraine's 24 O-blasts were hit east to west across the country. Zelensky said that Russia targeted basically everything that keeps normal life going. That includes electricity generation, crucially, heat for the freezing winter, with power, we understand, knocked out in several regions. Now, after those attacks, though, Zelensky did push the needle just a bit on peace talks. He said that several draft documents have now been prepared after talks between the U.S. and Ukraine in Miami over the weekend. He said that they included points on security guarantees from the West ending the war, and he also said making sure Russia doesn't invade for a third time. Lindsey. All right, Ramey, thank you.
