A subsequent drone strike by Sudan's army near the facility resulted in dozens of deaths, including South Sudanese soldiers, and was interpreted by analysts as a warning to South Sudan regarding alleged support for the RSF.

South Sudan has denied involvement in the conflict, but analysts warn that external actors and vested interests could cause the conflict to spill over into neighboring countries. The RSF's capture of Heglig follows previous territorial gains, including the fall of El Fasher in North Darfur province.

And as a result, that is why they had to bomb the place to get rid of these people and also to send a warning to the Southern Sudanese government that if you continue being used as a conduit and supporting these guys, we are going to interfere with your economical backbone activities. South Sudan denies taking sides in the conflict. The conflict in Sudan is going to spill over because of the external forces that are in play. We have the other forces like Turkey and the likes and the company supporting Sudan army. And then we have the others like IAU, Saudi Arabia and the proxies like Kenya also supporting them. So the conflict is going to spill over because of vested interest and we don't see the end of this conflict soon because of the heavy interest of these people. The capture of Hague League is the latest in a string of RSF territorial gains, including the October fall of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur province.
