British rock group Queen has been named the most played rock act in the UK for the 21st century, according to data from music licensing company PPL. The band accumulated 400 million seconds, or 12 and a half years, of airplay on UK television and radio since 2000.

David Bowie ranked second on the list, followed by U2, with Oasis, Fleetwood Mac, and the Rolling Stones also appearing in the top ten. The rankings were released ahead of National Album Day, which this year celebrates the theme of rock music.
