A grim milestone here in Israel as the country mourns its dead two years on from the Hamas terror attack. There are still 48 hostages in captivity, 20 believed alive. Their families are desperate for a deal, as indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel take place in Egypt. The main memorial is being organized by bereaved families and not the government, reflecting deep division over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership. Many Israelis blame him for failing to bring all the hostages home. The Hamas attack plunged the region into a devastating war in Gaza. Over 67,000 people have been killed, according to local health officials. Huge swathes of the territory have been destroyed.
