It was a Canadian exclusive interview now making British headlines in London's newspapers and on TV networks. The Nationals rare sit down with Princess Anne is everywhere. So she's talking there about this sense of the long-term stability. The British media seizing on Anne's comments about the size of the monarchy. She didn't think a slimmed down monarchy was a good idea. Her brother King Charles has previously suggested he wants fewer senior working royals. But Anne pointed out Charles's plan came before the departures of Prince Harry and Meghan and Prince Andrew. It doesn't sound like a good idea from where I'm standing. I'd say I'm not quite sure what else you know we can do. She already handles more engagements than any other royal. 214 last year. This is a message to the King, to the people that perhaps Charles's vision of a slimmed down monarchy does need to be revised. The Princess Royal also spoke about slavery and her family's historical ties to it. A historical perspective which is slightly different. Maybe more realistic. In which is? No the historical perspective it just goes back a lot further. The modern contexts are very different. Slavery hasn't gone away. No, come on. The words struck Gillian Sunderland who studies race and history and whose father's upbringing in Barbados was influenced by its British colonial past. She didn't even seem prepared for that question which is kind of very surprising how much kind of her aides and the people around her kind of insulate the royal family from these kind of debates.
