The legislation would also allow police to withdraw gun licences from individuals deemed a threat to the community and remove the appeals process through NCAT.

The bill has drawn criticism from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party, who argue it unfairly targets lawful gun owners and ignores other issues. Additionally, the government seeks to prohibit mass protests after terrorism events, with Premier Chris Minns citing concerns about public safety and social harmony.

Now the shooters, fishers and farmers have reacted strongly to this. They say it shifts blame onto lawful, licensed firearm owners and sidesteps the real issue of anti-semitism. The Minsk government also wants to prohibit mass protests following a terrorism event and here's why the Premier believes that is important. My concern is that a mass demonstration in this combustible situation with our multicultural community could light a flame that would be impossible to extinguish. The Premier believes that it would stretch police resources and add to disharmony, saying his government is doing all it can to lower the temperature across Sydney and the state.
