The app partners with local non-profits, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores, allowing them to sell surplus food items in 'surprise bags' at a fraction of their original price. Customers purchase these bags through the app and pick them up in-store, though they do not get to choose the specific items.

Lighthouse Charities, one of the app's partners, highlights the dual benefit of cutting down on food waste while providing affordable options to the community. Seasonal produce and other goods are included in the offerings, with some bags valued at $18 being sold for as little as $5.99. The app also features a variety of products, including meals, groceries, pet food, and flowers, all priced under $10.

If you're looking to stretch your grocery budget there's a new app that just launched in Las Vegas called Too Good to Go and it promises to save you money and cut down on food Still good but we know that we can't sell it before it's going to go bad. Britson Bennett with Lighthouse Charities says partnering with the app Too Good to Go not only cuts down on food waste but it also brings affordable options to valley families. I would say we use 75 percent of what we do maybe 80 so then 20 to 25 percent we want to keep moving through the community. The app just launched in Las Vegas and here's how it works. Local non-profits, popular restaurants, coffee shops and stores put their extras or anything they didn't sell into a surprise bag. Customers buy through the app paying a fraction of the price then pick up in store. The only catch is you don't get to choose your food items. And when it comes to fresh fruit and vegetables Bennett says Lighthouse Charities partners with Rose Creek Farm selling whatever's in season at a discount as well as eggs. Over here are fruit trees and these are seasonal like everything else. One week we'll have limes. Our pears are almost ready and they're just so beautiful. I love pears. And those discounts can be significant. We sell bags that are worth $18 and the customer gets them for $5.99. So I tried the app myself and I found meals, groceries, even pet food and flowers all under $10. Now remember all of these items are perfectly good.
