A summer cold front will stall out from the Great Lakes back to the Plains. Multiple rounds of heavy downpours could lead to several inches of rain and flooding.

A multiday period of hot and humid conditions is affecting Chicago, Kansas City, Wichita, and surrounding areas, with authorities warning of an increased risk of flooding due to excessive rainfall. Flood watches are in effect from Amarillo through to the Great Lakes region, with storms capable of producing heavy rain, damaging winds, large hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. 

Residents are advised to remain vigilant, especially during the hottest hours, and to assist neighbors who may not have access to air conditioning. The risk of flash flooding is expected to persist, particularly through the next morning and midday, as storms continue to impact the region.
