Israel has dramatically intensified its offensive in the north of the Palestinian territory, with ground forces going in to seize Gaza City. The army claims that thousands of Hamas fighters are still there, but hundreds of thousands of civilians also remain.

According to officials from the Hamas-run health ministry, dozens have been killed in recent bombardments, with the overall death toll from the ongoing conflict now exceeding 65,000. Israel has deployed more tanks and troops, focusing its ground offensive on Gaza City, described as the last Hamas stronghold. Over 350,000 residents have reportedly fled, and Israel has temporarily opened an additional exit route to facilitate further evacuations.

Officials under the Hamas-run health ministry say the intense bombardment in the last 24 hours has killed dozens. And that the death toll from the two-year war in Gaza has now surpassed 65,000. The situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic and tragic. The world must stop these massacres and stop the invasion of Gaza City and emptying it of its population. This comes as Israel is sending more tanks and troops into the territory, pressing on with its new ground offensive in Gaza's largest city. Israel says it is the last Hamas stronghold. Once home to a million Palestinians, the city is now facing a mass exodus. Israel's military says more than 350,000 residents have already left. Scenes of Palestinians fleeing showed heavy traffic on the road leading south. Israel now says it has opened an additional exit route, the Salah ad-Din Road, temporarily for just 48 hours. A narrow window for Gazans still in the city to escape before the fighting intensifies even more.
