morning and let me introduce you to Zuri, one of the Milwaukee County Zoo's most fascinating residents. Today we're taking a closer look at what makes her so special and how supporting zoo events like wild lights directly impacts her and other animals around the world. Zuri is our new female eastern black rhino. Um, she's 15 years old and she has come here from Cincinnati Zoo and we're hoping that she will be a mother to some calves in the future. Wow, you've been here for 20 years at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Talk about what this means to our zoo and our community and how cool it is to have something that we can come to year round indoors like this. This renovation is a once in a lifetime experience for us as keepers. I mean, you don't build a new barn like this every day. This has been a huge project many years in the making. As far as the community, I think this is going to give everyone a much more full experience of the rhinos. In our old exhibit, you were always looking at them through glass, whereas here you're getting to hear them and smell them and see them closer. And it's just a much more sensory experience, I guess for the visitors as well as for the rhinos. So many families are going to have people visiting for the holidays. This is a great place to come support the zoo, but also wild lights is going on through New Year's Eve. Talk about when people support events like wild lights here at the Milwaukee County Zoo, how that directly affects the care of animals right here in Milwaukee County. Well, when you come to any kind of events at the zoo, whether it's wild lights or a la carte or anything like that, the money is going to help support all of our animals who are ambassadors for their wild counterparts. And some of that money also goes to support the wild counterparts. Like I said, the rhinos in the wild, the zoo does give money to conservation and we support a lot of conservation efforts. So I think it's a really great thing to support. I mean, come out for wild lights and you know that you're supporting the care of these animals and the conservation of other animals. And it is really cool to get that up close and personal. So if you have family that's in town for the holidays, a great place to check out. And I hadn't been to the zoo in a while. We have such a great zoo and to be able to go indoors and stay warm as well during the holidays or if it's raining out or snowing, you can still go to the zoo. Yeah, they've always got something going on at the zoo. And I love how Zuri was like hanging out in the background of that interview shot. She's ready for her close up and we will have a follow up to Zuri story coming up friday morning here on TMJ four news today.
