A local man is using his time to mentor the next generation by teaching them about entrepreneurship at his car dealership.

Eric Timms, owner of Event Motoring in San Diego, balances his business with a strong commitment to mentoring local youth. He coaches multiple sports, hires students for internships to teach them about entrepreneurship, and encourages them to pursue higher education. Timms also organizes gift drives for foster children and people experiencing homelessness, and has provided opportunities for individuals to achieve personal goals, such as walking across America. In addition, he awards college scholarships to students, emphasizing the importance of giving back and supporting the next generation.

Mentoring the next generation

I've got the Godfather Rolls-Royce back there, if you know what I mean. By day, you can find Eric Timms hooking customers up with a Rolls-Royce or a luxury Sprinter van. We got a seat back there that also goes into a bed. At his car dealership, Event Motoring. But after that, he's a youth sports coach. I've been coaching baseball, I coach football, and I also coach basketball. And a mentor. Timms hires students for internships at the car dealership to teach them about entrepreneurship, using his skills in business to help the next generation. Yeah, I'll hire them here, kind of show them the business, and as they get around me and hear me talk, and it's like they start changing how they're on school and what they might want to do or go into college. I think it makes them want to go harder as they move forward. Timms says his message when he's mentoring kids is similar to his advice as a coach. If you commit, you can do anything. Sky's the limit for everyone, right? We all breathe the same, we all bleed the same. Sky's the limit, we just have to push, push, and grind. You know what I mean? And that's kind of what I preach, you know, and that comes, again, from being disciplined. But the giving spirit doesn't stop there. Timms holds gift drives for foster children and homeless San Diegans during the holidays, and even hired a man experiencing homelessness who went on to fulfill a dream of walking across America. You know, he went from being homeless to succeeding in something that he wanted to do, and that was awesome, you know what I mean? So, any age, it's never over. And if all that wasn't enough, Timms also gives students college scholarships. Congratulations from Yvette Morton, you are awesome.
