Nearly 100 extra police officers have been deployed to a national park in Victoria's north-east as part of a two-day operation﻿ to search for accused cop killer Dezi Freeman.

A recent raid at a rural property near Benalla, owned by a veteran police officer, resulted in the detention and subsequent clearance of individuals with no links to the case. The ongoing manhunt has kept Mount Buffalo National Park closed, severely affecting local businesses that rely on tourism. Authorities have provided some financial support, but business owners report limited assistance. Police have scaled down the search but maintain that finding Freeman remains a top priority.

Yesterday afternoon, tactical police swarmed a rural property near Benalla. In an unexpected twist, this one belongs to a veteran police officer. Sources say she wasn't there at the time, it was her son they were searching for. The property is located an hour and a half away from where Freeman was last seen in Porpanka. The raid took place two hours after a man was intercepted by police further east in Undera. Witnesses say heavily armed officers from the Special Operations Group forced a four-wheel drive off the road before taking the man into custody. He and those connected to the property have since been cleared of any links to the investigation. Freeman hasn't been seen since August 26th when police carrying out a search warrant were gunned down on his property. The businesses in Porpanka that urgently need some help financially have only received a single email. Specialist search dogs from Queensland have been flown in to assist in today's hunt for Desi Freeman, keeping the Mount Buffalo National Park closed for a sixth week. And with no sign yet of the fugitive, it's unclear when it will be deemed safe to reopen. There are businesses there that have made no income since the day of the incident unfolded so they're desperate.
