In today's Daily Fix: Larian boss Swen Vincke confirmed some details about their upcoming game, Divinity. While the announcement trailer was decidedly not kid-friendly, the game's tone will be similar to Larian's hit RPG, Baldur's Gate 3, and it will be turn-based, too.

Larian Studios CEO Sven Vinkit has confirmed that the next Divinity game will be a turn-based RPG, continuing the studio's established gameplay style. The game will support both single-player and cooperative multiplayer modes, has been in development for two years, and is now in full production. It is expected to be larger than Baldur's Gate 3 and may utilize early access before its full release.

In other news, over 30 minutes of unused dialogue from Metroid Prime 4 has been data-mined and released online, featuring additional character interactions not present in the final game. Additionally, Amazon has advanced the release date of Fallout Season 2 on Prime Video, with new episodes set to roll out weekly until the season finale.

What's up everybody, Damon here and in today's gaming news, Divinity will be familiar to Baldur's Gate 3 players, the NPCs in Metroid Prime 4 were originally even more chatty, and Season 2 of Fallout arrives a little early. This is your Daily Fix. Larian has confirmed that its upcoming role-playing game Divinity is indeed turn-based following speculation from fans. Confirmation that it is sticking with turn-based combat comes from a Bloomberg interview with Larian boss Sven Vinkit. This is going to be us unleashed, I think, Vinkit said. It's a turn-based RPG featuring everything you've seen from us in the past, but it's brought to the next level. Vinkit took part in a round of interviews with the media following the announcement and spoke to IGN in an interview of our own. Key points he made include, Divinity is a single-player game with cooperative multiplayer as with Baldur's Gate 3, Larian has been working on Divinity for two years already and it is now in full production. Divinity is bigger than Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity will most likely use early access prior to full launch as Baldur's Gate 3 did. Moving on, Nintendo recorded more than 30 minutes of extra conversations featuring Metroid Prime 4's chatty companion characters that don't officially appear in the game. The voice lines have now been data-mined and uploaded to YouTube where fans can listen in to long stretches of cut Metroid Prime 4 banter recorded for the Galactic Federation troops Samus Encounters. Specifically, these conversations would have played out at base camp between much-maligned mechanic Miles McKenzie and later NPCs. Listening to the conversations, these are all non-essential chats that add to each character's backstory and personality. Most are designed to be humorous, such as the chats between a mech and Private Armstrong talking about working out, getting a tattoo-like custom paint scheme, and Armstrong's love of dogs. Armstrong even discusses her pet pooch back home named Bowser. It remains to be seen whether this dialogue will ever be used for anything or made available in-game via a future update, perhaps as being saved for the launch of a new Game Plus mode. Alternatively, the fact the dialogue has been cut could be a sign that Nintendo knew its cheery Marines might come across as an odd fit in Metroid Prime, a series known for its themes of isolation with a famously silent protagonist and little to no dialogue. Notably, Nintendo held back all mention of these characters' presence until a pre-release preview just a month from the game's launch date. Their inclusion then became a focal point of discussion among fans and part of the game's critical consensus upon release. We did end up giving it an 8 out of 10, though, so we thought it was still a great game. And finally today, Amazon has brought forward the prime video release date of Fallout Season 2 by a day. Season 2 now debuts today, Tuesday, December 16th at 6pm Pacific, one day earlier than previously announced. To promote the launch of Season 2, the Sphere in Las Vegas was turned into a post-apocalyptic snow globe featuring Fallout characters Lucy, Maximus, and the Ghoul, as well as a Deathclaw, one of the Fallout universe's most deadly monsters attempting to break through the exosphere itself. Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Season 1's finale and takes us through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas. The eight-episode season will see one episode rolling out weekly, on Wednesdays, until the season finale on February 4th. And that is your daily fix for Tuesday, December 16th.
