There was only enough oil they found there to last for one day, but it would take eight days to regenerate new oil, and it turns out that that one jar of oil that was only enough for one day ended up lasting for eight. That's why the menorah lighting is special. Families light a candle each night to celebrate those eight days. And that's the miracle of Hanukkah that we celebrate until today through the lighting of the menorah each night of Hanukkah. Hanukkah has a deep meaning for those who celebrate. For Danielle Minson, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, it means spending time with family and cooking. My family, we do potato pancakes, potato latkes, we make them together and fry them in oil, and it's a really fun way to celebrate. Minson says it also means resiliency and community.
