Tropical Storm Jerry is forecast to become a hurricane Thursday. Tropical storm watches are in effect for the Northern Leeward Islands as Jerry will make its closest pass late Thursday into Friday. Two to 4 inches of rain could result in flooding, especially in higher terrain.

Tropical Storm Jerry is currently impacting the Leeward Islands, bringing heavy rain, thunder, and lightning to areas under tropical storm watches, including Guadeloupe, Anguilla, and St. Martin. While the storm's appearance on satellite imagery is not well-organized, and some forecasts suggest it may remain a tropical storm, authorities continue to monitor its potential to strengthen. Aircraft are being deployed to gather more data on the storm's intensity and trajectory. The National Hurricane Center has recently reduced its forecast for Jerry's intensity, but the situation remains under close observation.

Jerry looks horrible this morning. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. There's a big thunderstorm complex over the same islands that have the tropical storm watches. So it's heavy rain and thunder and lightning. But from Guadalupe all the way up into Anguilla and St. Martin, we have tropical storm watches. Planes are going out today. And of course, continuous succession of planes. We'll see exactly what we're dealing with in through here. But on visible satellite, this thing just doesn't look that great. Some of the guidance keeps this at tropical storm. And NHC has been going down with their forecast intensity.
