Greta Thunberg, making her way for arrivals at Athens International Airport and welcomed by pro-Palestinian demonstrators. The Swedish climate activist was deported alongside 170 journalists, MPs, lawyers and other activists by Israel on a specially chartered plane. Like others, she denounced mistreatment and degrading conditions while in Israeli detention. I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment, trust me, but that is not the story. What happened here was that Israel, while continuing to worsen and escalate their genocide, attempting to erase an entire population, an entire nation in front of our very eyes. Israel has denied the accusations, calling the flotilla a PR stunt and saying that its members were spreading lies. The global Sumad Flotilla set sail from Barcelona at the beginning of September. The group of 45 vessels wanted to put pressure on international governments and symbolically break the blockade on Gaza. Around 470 people on board were detained after the boats in international waters, where Israel doesn't have jurisdiction, were stopped by Israeli forces. The subsequent detention was unlawful, according to Amnesty International. This interception is not just about blocking aid, it is a calculated act of intimidation intended to punish and silence critics of Israel's genocide and its unlawful blockade on Gaza. Israel has repeatedly questioned the humanitarian ambitions of flotillas trying to deliver aid to Gaza. Another one is already heading towards the enclave. A nine-vessel group, made up of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and the Thousand Madelines, settle from Italy.

As the war in Gaza reaches its two-year mark, Israel and Hamas continue negotiations in Egypt. Talks are centered on a proposed ceasefire deal, which includes a partial Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a hostage-prisoner exchange.
