The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Chief and the lead prosecutor in this case read they held a news conference at 11 o'clock Eastern and they said after speaking to the victim, a 69 year old man, the charges against Mark Sanchez, they've now been upgraded to a felony battery with serious bodily injury. Now this is notable and it's significant read because this carries a one to six year jail time sentence based on the injuries that the victim in this case sustained. Here's more on that from prosecutor Ryan Mears. One of the challenges you have in a case like this is the fact that you were dealing with individuals who are receiving medical care. And it's, that's obviously the most important thing that individuals are treated appropriately. But once we were provided with additional information about the victim's current medical condition, it became clear to us that additional charges needed to be filed. There is a supporting probable cause affidavit, which was filed with the court today, which outlines the additional information which we have received thanks to the effort of IMPD. And that's why we were able to file the charges. So again, that news conference read today was pretty brief. They say it's still early stages of the investigation. Obviously, search warrants are still outstanding. As for what happens next year, we're told this case is being now transferred from misdemeanor court to felony court and that new felony court, it will determine whether a bond is needed in this case.
