Wiles has responded to the article by stating her comments were taken out of context, while President Trump has not yet issued a public response.

And we have seen similarly supportive statements issued by Cabinet secretaries and other senior staffers since the publication of the article this morning. Among other things in the article, she says the president quote has a quote alcoholic personality. Contrasting it with that of her own father, the late Pat Summerall. He is not someone who is someone who drinks. He is so he has said he's never really had an alcoholic drink in his life, but her point is that he operates with a quote view that there's nothing he can't do nothing. Zero nothing. She tried to get the president to end his so called score settling with perceived enemies or critics. In the first 90 days of the administration, she says, told him his presidency should not be a retribution tour. She obviously didn't succeed in that, and she concedes that anytime the two of them have a disagreement, he breaks the tie. She also, as you mentioned, read suggested the vice president quote has been a conspiracy theorist for a decade that Elon Musk is an avowed ketamine user and an odd odd duck. Her words whose actions were not quote rational and left her aghast, especially at his quick dismantling of the USAID earlier this year. She acknowledges that the president wasn't telling the truth when he accused former President Bill Clinton of visiting the private island of the sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein and said that the Attorney General quote whiffed on her explanation of what she knew and what exactly there was in Justice Department files regarding the whole affair. And she revealed or it was revealed. If one hasn't seen it, that she keeps a freestanding video monitor in her office with a live feed of the president's social media posts. Well, and we remember election night President Donald Trump, newly elected, really went on and on. He was effusive about Susie Wiles. Still, we know her history is aligned with, shall we say, more tempered candidates? John Huntsman, Mitt Romney. We'll have to see how the president responds to it and what the reaction is to the article, but she rarely goes on social media for any real reason, at least since she took this chief of staff role so that she was out there this morning, not denying the quotes, but suggesting that they were taking out of context and that the fuller picture of their statements to Vanity Fair weren't properly conveyed in the article is telling that they understood that they were on the verge of at least a day's worth of coverage, highlighting this article, and so she felt the need to put that out. And it is that statement that has since been retweeted by other staffers by Cabinet secretaries. And as you heard there, the president as well, giving her air cover ahead of whatever the president may think of this, whatever he's asked about it, either later today or at some point in the coming days.
