Authorities have banned planned demonstrations by parties whose candidates were excluded from the election, referencing concerns over public order and recalling previous instances of electoral violence. The campaign period is marked by calls for peace and unity among citizens, despite the underlying tensions.

The candidacy of notable figures like former President Laurent Barbeau and ex-Crédit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam were turned down by the Constitutional Council last September. We will truly welcome the candidate because he has a lot of good news for us. And we hope that mercury will be the gateway to the palace. From mercury, he will go to the palace. Voters have banned the planned Saturday demonstration, evoking memories of past electoral violence, citing public order during the presidential campaign. The protests were organized by parties whose candidates were barred from the Oct. 25 election.
