The Israeli army continues to expand its assault on Gaza City killing dozens of Palestinians. In Israel, the families of hostages fear their government isn't focused on releasing their loved ones as Hamas releases video of two people held captive.

Israeli forces have intensified their operations in Gaza City, targeting buildings allegedly used by Hamas. The Israeli military states it has taken steps to minimise civilian casualties, but at least 30 people have been reported killed in the past 24 hours, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. 

The ongoing offensive, named Operation Gideon's Chariots, has resulted in significant civilian suffering, including the deaths of children. There is increasing concern within Israel about the war's objectives, particularly regarding the safety of Israeli hostages. Protests and internal criticism have emerged, while Hamas has released a video of a hostage pleading for an end to the conflict.

Building by building, Gaza City is levelled by Israeli forces. This strike against a high-rise apartment complex was targeted at Hamas. Israel claims the militant organisation had been using the building and steps were taken to minimise civilian casualties. At least 30 were killed across Gaza in 24 hours, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, as the Israeli military marches onwards to full occupation. Today we hold 40% of Gaza City. The operation will continue to expand and intensify in the coming days. There's concern, including from within the military, that this escalation in conflict is only putting hostages' lives at risk. Hamas is taking advantage of the division, releasing this video of a hostage captured during the October 7 attacks on an Israeli music festival, pleading for the war to end. This is all we want.
