The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have carried out airstrikes on more than 170 targets in Gaza, including sites identified as weapon depots and buildings used by Hamas. Ground forces have advanced further into Gaza City, which remains the focal point of ongoing fighting. 

According to the IDF, only two Israeli soldiers have been killed since the launch of the current operation, attributed to extensive preparations and airstrikes prior to the ground incursion. The military also reported the killing of a Hamas member involved in the October 7th attack and stated that efforts to dismantle Hamas outposts and recover stolen humanitarian aid are ongoing. The operation is expected to continue, with thousands of reservists still active in the region.

To Gaza now, where the Israeli Air Force struck more than 170 targets in the past day, including terrorists, weapon depots, and buildings used by Hamas, all as Israeli troops advance further into Gaza City, where the main fighting is taking place. Our correspondent Joe Brown was at the Israel-Gaza border and filed this report. Earlier today, the IDF announced that Chemetu Demilash was the second person to have been killed in Gideon's Chariots 2.0 from the IDF. He was killed whilst he was manning an outpost in Gaza City, and he was killed by a Hamas sniper. This comes a couple of days after Netanel Bizaglo was also killed, this time by a bomb that hit his tank. But these two deaths are the only deaths that have occurred in the 10 days since the IDF launched Gideon's Chariots 2.0. Now, before they launched this ground incursion to seize Gaza City, they were fearful that because of the compact area of Gaza City, how densely populated it was with Hamas fighters, that it was a possibility that there could be a great death toll. But because of the preparations that have gone on beforehand, this is including leveling parts of the outskirts of Gaza City and constant airstrikes for weeks going into this, this has meant that it's been easier for them to manoeuvre around, and that has massively limited the amount of IDF casualties. And the proof is in the pudding with their results. Just today they announced the killing of Wael Mourier, who was taking part in the October 7th massacre. He went to the Nahalo's outpost to take part in that massacre of IDF soldiers. He was killed in an airstrike in Gaza City. The IDF has also said that they are dismantling Hamas outposts both above and below ground. This includes depots where Hamas have been hiding the humanitarian aids that they have stolen from civilians. And this will likely continue going on for weeks, maybe even months ahead, as the Israeli public celebrates the high holidays, most recently being the new year of Rosh Hashanah. There are thousands of reservist soldiers who are still fighting in the Gaza Strip and trying to make it as easy as possible for the IDF to take over Gaza City and to work their way throughout the whole of the Strip and allow those in Gaza City to make safe evacuations down south to humanitarian zones around al-Mawassi and near the Rafah area.
