It's a high stakes long weekend for a chance to represent the country at the grande final this December in Bahrain. Nearly 100 drivers from across Canada and the U.S. descend on Fort Saskatchewan.

The Rotax Canada Final, held in Fort Saskatchewan, brought together leading karting teams from across North America. Competitors raced at high speeds, with karts reaching up to 140 km/h, all aiming for the championship and a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals in Bahrain.

The event featured intense wheel-to-wheel action and included participants as young as eight years old. Consistency and composure were highlighted as crucial for success, and many young racers are expected to pursue professional careers in motorsports.

High stakes at Max Karting Group Canada Final

We're here at the 2025 Rotax Canada Final. This event is one of the most competitive events that we have in the country. We have some of the top teams from all over North America here attending, all fighting for a championship to win a ticket to represent their country and go to the Rotax Grand Finals in Bahrain. It's super fast and with that the drafting creates a wheel to wheel action racing. So as a spectator, you're truly watching some of the most intense races because the battles of the drivers and fighting, it really is a spectacle to watch. This one goes about 140k and the one beside me goes about 130k, so very, very fast. And it's the best from North America that come here and everyone's got one goal in mind. Some people don't even speak the same language but they really are speaking the same language and that language is speed, right? And they're trying to get every last little bit out of anything they can just to be better than the next guy, right? When a racer crashes, they're now last place and so they're getting points that are very low. So then the following days, they have to really finish as high as they possibly can to get up there. So at the end of the day, consistency is what wins races here. Sometimes it does get a little bit heated but the real winners are the ones that are actually able to stay calm. And for me, I never really get stressed out. It's usually just cool as a cucumber. So our youngest racers are starting at 8 years old. The kids, to see them wheel to wheel doing 100km an hour around the track, they are the most talented kids in our country. So you'll see many of them go on and have pro careers as race car drivers or in motorsports.
