Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen addressed the European Parliament on Wednesday, calling for closer cooperation with the EU. “We are not going to join another country”, he told journalists.

Greenland's Prime Minister Jens Friedrich Nielsen stated that Greenland is not pursuing membership in either the European Union or the United States. Instead, Nielsen emphasised the territory's intention to deepen cooperation with the EU, especially in sectors like raw materials. 

During his address to the European Parliament, Nielsen highlighted the long-standing partnership between Greenland and the EU. European Parliament President Roberta Mezzola reaffirmed the EU's commitment to being a reliable partner for Greenland. Greenland remains an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, operating under a self-government arrangement since 2009.
