Speaking at Rancho High School, Lombardo emphasized his record on education, including a $2 billion increase in the state's school budget, regulatory cuts, and the passage of a housing bill aimed at helping middle-class residents. He also noted his extensive use of the veto, positioning himself as a safeguard against what he described as 'bad government.'

Supporters at the event expressed strong approval of Lombardo's leadership and local roots. At this stage, Lombardo does not have any declared primary opponents, with the official filing period for the office set to open in March.

Governor Joe Lombardo today touting his record on education, on housing, and on jobs as he asked Nevadans for help, sending him back to Carson City for another four-year term. Just as he did in 2021, Lombardo returned to Rancho High School, his alma mater, to launch his bid for re-election. He cited the education he got at Rancho for laying out a path for a career in the Army and law enforcement, although he said running for governor was never something he thought about. There was no phantom of me attending high school that I would eventually run for governor. Never in the back of my mind or the front of my mind. But as a result of that education and that foundation, I stand before you today. Lombardo touted his record in cutting regulations, boosting the state's schools budget by two billion dollars, demanding more accountability from schools, and passing a housing bill to help middle-class residents afford a home. The governor also acknowledged his veto record, 162 rejected bills, more than any other Nevada chief executive, but cast himself as a backstop against what he called bad government. He asked for a second term, invoking his trademark phrase, the Nevada way. A concept that as Nevadans, if we believe in ourselves sufficiently enough and trust one another to overcome adversity, no matter the magnitude, we shall never fail. Locals who attended Lombardo's speech all predicted victory in November 2026, including Jennifer Tuggle of Boulder City. I love Governor Lombardo. He absolutely is the best governor we have ever had. He's never lied to us and he has done more for us than anyone in the past. That's a view shared by Las Vegas Zach Wilcox, who said he was glad that Lombardo is also a Las Vegas local. I think that the idea that he's here, that he's looking out for Nevadans, that he's from Southern Nevada, you know, that's really, obviously I love the whole state. It's great to see somebody that's coming from Southern Nevada that can kind of represent what the changing economy here, the things that are really changing in Nevada pretty rapidly.
