It's almost time for Century Villages Apple Butter Festival. It's a tradition, right? History, a staple for Nick Goris that he carves out on his calendar each and every year. It brings people to Burton. This is the busiest weekend of the year for this historic hub. This time last year was facing the possibility of closing. We've gotten a little better when we last spoke, the 62 acre property was trying to raise money to catch up on all the maintenance that was put off on top of 15 leans on the property. Now we're down to. Think we're down to eight, so we're getting closer. Now, as treasurer Jim Vine Court points out, they're in about 20% better shape than last year, including improvements like a new roof for several of the buildings and HVAC to help preserve the artifacts inside. This was the first roof since 91 we put on an ending the building, so we're a little behind. We have to do roofs all the time because there's so many roofs in here, but there's still more work to do. He says memberships are down this year as they hope to draw in more visitors to weekends like this. We're here trying to save the history of the Geauga County and the history of our of our country. We're going to be 250 years old next year. You know, we lose history. The Apple Butter Festival runs this weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 5 in Geauga County. Clay Lippard News 5.
